Elections for president and parliament commence in Mexico.
A 61-year-old man is vying for the left-wing Morena party, which is associated with departing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Xochitl Gálvez, a contender from the center-right group, comes in second in the polls. The campaign has been tainted by brutality, with at least 25 local politicians losing their lives.
This Sunday, Mexicans will determine who occupies the House of Representatives and the Senate in Mexico City. Additionally, there will be gubernatorial and local elections.
Approximately 20,000 roles are being decided - more than in any previous election. The polling stations are set to close at midnight and exit polls should be released during the night.
