Inundations - Election official: Flooding affects voting processes

Recent floods have brought about some challenges for the European election in Bavaria, leading to the redistribution of polling stations in multiple areas. Commissioner Thomas Gössl informed the German Press Agency that these municipalities include Aichach-Friedberg, Augsburg, Freising, Günzburg, Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, and Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm. These regions are currently experiencing issues with their town halls, resulting in the establishment of temporary municipal administrations. Rest assured that the necessary measures are being taken to ensure the election proceeds smoothly.

While the easiest option for voting would be to visit your designated polling station on election day, those who have applied for postal voting can still cast their vote at the polling station with their voting slip and ID.

Those who have misplaced or never received their election documents as a result of the flood should promptly reach out to their respective municipalities. They can request new documents and, for your convenience, it is suggested to complete the postal vote right there at the municipality. In Bavaria, voting slips can still be issued by this Saturday at noon, according to Commissioner Gössl.

Apart from the European election, other elections are taking place in Bavaria this weekend, such as district council, mayor, and citizen initiatives. Make sure to plan your day accordingly to ensure you do not miss your chance to participate in these crucial events.
