After a brutal home invasion at a nursing home in Neuenkirchen, located in northern Münsterland, a resident has unfortunately passed away due to her severe wounds. As per a joint announcement from the authorities, the alleged perpetrator has been remanded to a psychiatric institution.
Apparently, the 37-year-old offender initiated the chaos by ramming his vehicle into the building's wall. Subsequently, he managed to force entry into the care facility by shattering a window, creating an uproar in the process. He then attacked an 89-year-old woman and a caregiver (59), causing severe injuries to both individuals. The responding police officers managed to subdue the man using a Taser, which is a device that delivers an electrical shock.
Unfortunately, the 89-year-old victim succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. A post-mortem examination revealed numerous bone fractures. The authorities are still probing into the motivation behind the mentally ill aggressor's actions, as mentioned in the statement.
The Member States may provide the Commission with necessary support and resources in investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Following this tragedy, it is crucial for the Commission to collaborate closely with the Member States to strengthen the security measures in such facilities.
