Illegal Activity - Elderly organization captures bike-stealing culprit mid-crime.

A team of seniors managed to apprehend a bike thief in Hanover and handed him over to the authorities. The group, comprised of three women aged 68, 77, and 83, as well as a 68-year-old man, spotted the criminal attempting to steal a pedelec near Herrenhausen Castle on Monday. They claimed that on Thursday evening, the 49-year-old suspect used a hacksaw to break the security lock of the bike before attempting to flee.

When the thief sat down on the stolen bike and began riding away, the senior citizens gave chase and caught up with him. The man reportedly threw down the bike and attempted to escape by pushing, pulling, and roughing up the seniors. However, the determined group refused to back down.

One of the women in the group alerted the police while the others held the man in place until the officers arrived. Local authorities praised their "daring actions" as a representation of civil courage. Upon searching the suspect's backpack, the police discovered additional burglary tools. A judge subsequently ordered the man to be detained pending further investigation.

The owner of the pedelec reported the stolen bike to the police on the same day with the intention of filing a report but ended up retrieving her expensive bike, valued at 2500 euros, from the squad in a secure, undamaged condition.
