A 71-year-old gentleman, severely impacted by a blaze in Broderstorf, Rostock district, last Saturday, passed away in the hospital on the same day, as per hospital reports shared on Tuesday. He had been battling severe smoke inhalation.

As per police reports on Tuesday, the incident started when a car parked in a carport suddenly caught fire for unknown reasons. The blaze also damaged a second parked vehicle. The flames then spread from the carport to the elderly man's house.

Police have estimated the property damage to be approximately €250,000. The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing, with arson not being ruled out just yet. An expert has already visited the scene, but the final report has yet to be released.

The car that caught fire in the carport was a vehicle. Unfortunately, the flames from the vehicle also damaged another parked vehicle.
