Elderly individual murdered in basement: Lengthy jail terms imposed in Cologne court.

During the court hearing, the defendant stood accused of murder and an attempted heist with the possibility of capital punishment. As per the indictment, four individuals—two Syrian suspects among them— are believed to have targeted a 85-year-old man for robbery in September 2023. It's claimed that one of the accused and another suspect rang his doorbell, while the other stayed in a car to ensure an easy getaway.

Once inside the house, the assailants are reported to have immediately attacked the elderly man and started searching for valuables. They took the injured senior down to the basement, where they brutally tortured him. Unfortunately, his injuries proved fatal. The attackers then disappeared from the scene.
