- Elderly individual faces peril as vehicle ignites into inferno
In a blaze in Borderstorf, a town situated within Rostock's district, an elderly gent of 71 years old endured serious harm. As per police records, a vehicle stationed in a carport ignited early morning for unidentified reasons. Another vehicle parked close by was also affected by the flames, as reported by Rostock's police directorate. The fire then swiftly spread from the carport towards the man's residence. "Upon the arrival of the fire department, flames were already erupting from the residence's rooftop," it was stated.
The 71-year-old resident, who was inside during the inferno, encountered major smoke inhalation. He required extraction and revival by the emergency services. Initially, the police had reported his age as 72. He was transferred to a hospital situated in Rostock.
Roughly 50 firefighters took part in putting out the flames. The residence was declared unfit for habitation. The police estimated the material damage at approximately 250,000 euros. The probe into the fire's origin remained underway, and arson was not definitively ruled out.
The elderly resident's residence was engulfed in flames, with fire visible from the rooftop. Due to the fire, his home was deemed uninhabitable.
