A person passing by saved an elderly gentleman of 86 from tumbling into the subway tracks mere seconds before an oncoming commuter train in Hannover area could hit him. According to the Federal Police, the train operator spotted the duo in the tracks and applied emergency brakes promptly. The 62-year-old passerby then successfully helped the elderly man out of the tracks. The area was shut down instantly, and authorities were informed.
This incident occurred at the Kirchdorf am Deister station, a part of Barsinghausen district. The 86-year-old, who sustained minor injuries, had a blood alcohol content of 1.35 per milliliter. Investigations are ongoing to determine if alcohol was responsible for his fall. Charges for dangerously interfering with traffic are being pursued.
The heroic rescuer, too, incurred slight wounds on his arm. Both individuals were transported to the hospital for medical attention. The tracks were completely blocked for approximately an hour, leading to complications in train schedule.
