Fraudsters tricked an 80-year-old resident of Berchtesgadener Land out of 150,000 euros with a bogus scheme. A con artist pretended to be a lawyer over the phone and lied to the elderly woman, claiming her niece had been involved in a fatal accident and needed bail money. The woman then gave the money to a delivery person on a Friday.

It wasn't until later that the 80-year-old realized she'd been duped. The local authorities are currently investigating the scam. Police warn others to stay vigilant and not succumb to pressure. They also urge younger generations to alert their loved ones and friends about such scams.

In this unfortunate incident, the fraudsters targeted an elderly woman from Berchtesgadenner Land, but their crimes do not stop at the borders of Berchtesgaden. It's essential for authorities in Bavaria to collaborate and share information to prevent such scams from affecting more unsuspecting residents.
