El Ghazi reacts to dismissal with pro-Palestine post

Professional footballer Anwar El Ghazi has responded to his dismissal by Bundesliga club FSV Mainz 05 with another pro-Palestinian Instagram post. "Stand up for what's right, even if you stand alone," wrote the Dutchman. The loss of his livelihood was nothing compared to the suffering of the people in Gaza. A few hours earlier, FSV had announced that El Ghazi had "resigned with immediate effect". The club responded "with this measure to the player's statements and posts on social media".

The starting point was El Ghazi's post in mid-October. Following the attack on Israel by terrorists on behalf of Hamas on October 7, he wrote in an Instagram post that was subsequently deleted: "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free." What is meant is that Palestine should expand from the Jordan to the Mediterranean. In a way, this denies Israel's right to exist.

According to Israel, it has attacked more than 12,000 targets in the Gaza Strip since the Hamas terror attacks that left 1,400 dead. Meanwhile, Israeli ground troops are also advancing against Hamas terrorists and military targets there. Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israeli territory. According to the Ministry of Health, which it controls, more than 9,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip so far.

Despite the ongoing conflicts and tensions between Israel and Palestine leading to war-like situations, El Ghazi's loyalty towards his beliefs remains unwavering. In the midst of the Bundesliga season, FSV Mainz 05's star player, Anwar El Ghazi, expressed his support for Palestine through a series of Instagram posts, which eventually led to his resignation from the club.
