Eisenach narrowly loses to TBV Lemgo Lippe
ThSV Eisenach also failed to pick up any points in its eighth away game of the season. The first-division handball club lost 24:26 (11:14) against TBV Lemgo Lippe in the Phoenix Contact Arena. Namesakes Samuel Zehnder for the hosts (nine goals/six seven-meter penalties) and Manuel Zehnder for Eisenach (seven goals/two seven-meter penalties) were the best scorers in the game.
The first goal of the game was only scored after four minutes. This was followed by two more goals for TBV Lemgo Lippe, meaning that the visitors from Eisenach were still without a goal after just under seven minutes. After a tough opening spell, the visitors from Wartburg City in particular got into the game better and were able to close the gap to one goal at times. The gaps widened again due to a somewhat unstable Eisenach defense and the visitors went into the break 14:11 ahead.
The visitors from Eisenach came out of the break strongly and tied the scores at 16:16 in the 37th minute. Neither team was then able to pull away and so the gap remained at most one goal until shortly before the end. The hosts from Lemgo ultimately emerged victorious in the fiercely contested final phase. Emil Buhl Laerke scored with 13 seconds remaining to make the final score 26:24.
Despite the loss, ThSV Eisenach managed to put up a strong fight in the Bundesliga, with Manuel Zehnder scoring seven goals for the team. Regardless of the outcome, Eisenach still hasn't secured a win in any of their eight away games this season, playing against Handball Bundesliga club TBV Lemgo Lippe.
