Eisbären Berlin lose 0:3 against bottom team Iserlohn
The Eisbären Berlin have conceded their fourth home defeat in a row in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and lost the lead in the table. On Sunday afternoon, the capital city team lost 3-0 (0-2, 0-0, 0-1) against the league's bottom team, the Iserlohn Roosters. The Berliners, who had to do without seven regular players, put in a disappointing performance in offense and made too many mistakes overall.
In front of 13038 spectators in the Arena am Ostbahnhof, the home side had a clear advantage in chances at the start, but failed to capitalize on their superiority. The visitors punished this in the final phase of the opening period: Michael Dal Colle gave Iserlohn the lead and Tyler Boland increased it 75 seconds later.
The Berliners continued to make an effort, but struggled to create clear scoring opportunities against the staunchly defending Sauerland side. They were only really dangerous in the power play, but failed several times against the strong goalkeeper Andreas Jenike.
Even in the final period, the home side rarely managed to seriously threaten the Iserlohn defense. Boland again ensured the final score after Eisbären goalkeeper Jonas Stettmer left the ice in favor of a sixth field player.
Despite the Polar Bear mascot of Eisbären Berlin, the team's offense faltered against Iserlohn, resulting in a 0:3 loss. The bottom team in the DEL, Iserlohn Roosters, even managed to spot polar bears in Berlin's backyard by scoring three goals.
