Soccer - Eintracht women in Champions League qualifier against Sporting

The Eintracht Frankfurt women's soccer team will face Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon in the first qualifying round for the Champions League group stage. This was determined by the draw in Nyon.

If they win, the third-place team from the previous Bundesliga season will play in the mini-tournament against the winner of the FC Minsk (Belarus) vs Breidablik Kópavogur (Iceland) match for entry into the second qualifying round. Then VfL Wolfsburg also enters the competition. Meister FC Bayern München is directly qualified for the group phase, which begins in October.

Dates are the 4th and 7th of September. The host for the mini-tournament has yet to be determined among the four participants. In the previous season, the Frankfurt women also had to fight through the qualification - and successfully. However, for the team coached by Niko Arnautis, it was the end of the group stage in the Champions League.

The Champions League group stage features several European teams, including Eintracht Frankfurt from Hesse, Germany. Their qualification journey begins in the first round, where they'll face Sporting Lisbon. This draw took place in Nyon, Switzerland.

Should Eintracht Frankfurt emerge victorious, they will advance to a mini-tournament involving other qualifying teams. This tournament includes the third-place team from the Bundesliga last season, as well as the winner from the FC Minsk vs Breidablik Kópavogur match.

In the event of Eintracht Frankfurt's success in the mini-tournament, they will join VfL Wolfsburg in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. Meanwhile, Meister FC Bayern München is directly qualified for the group stage, bypassing the qualification rounds.

The first mini-tournament match is scheduled for the 4th of September, with the second match to follow on the 7th. The location for these matches has yet to be determined among the participating teams.

Regardless of the outcome, the Eintracht Frankfurt women's soccer team has a strong history of overcoming challenges in European soccer competitions, including the Champions League.
