Eintracht women hope for euphoria in the Champions League

The Eintracht Frankfurt women's soccer team is hoping for a great response from the fans when they take part in the group stage of the Champions League for the first time. "Our aim is to spark a great deal of euphoria around international matches, just like with the men. Eintracht Frankfurt can play internationally," Katharina Kiel, Technical Director of Eintracht Women, told the German Press Agency.

The team led by German international strikers Laura Freigang and Nicole Anyomi will start their group matches this Tuesday (6.45 pm/DAZN and DAZN YouTube channel) at Swedish record champions FC Rosengård, having missed out to this year's premier class finalists VfL Wolfsburg.

On November 22, the Frankfurt women will then welcome defending champions FC Barcelona, featuring Spanish world champions such as Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmati and Salma Paralluelo, for their first home game. The third group opponent is Benfica Lisbon. "We want to play in front of as many people as possible and we are sure that we will succeed. Especially against FC Barcelona," said Kiel.

Eintracht play all their home games at Deutsche Bank Park, where the men have already experienced many great European Cup nights. However, the 5:0 win over AC Sparta Prague in the first leg of the play-offs was recently attended by just 5500 spectators, compared to 13,500 fans in the Bundesliga top match against Wolfsburg (2:4).

Group A is very ambitious, said Kiel, but so is coach Niko Arnautis' team. "We want to take the aforementioned euphoria with us and use it to our advantage," explained the 31-year-old. "Our clear goal is to get through the group stage. If we push ourselves to the limit in every game, I'm very confident that we'll succeed."

The Frankfurt women have won the European Cup four times under the 1. FFC umbrella. As Eintracht Frankfurt, the Bundesliga club is in the group stage for the first time.

The women's soccer team of Eintracht Frankfurt, including stars like Laura Freigang and Nicole Anyomi, will face FC Rosengård in their Champions League group stage debut, aiming to emulate the men's team's international success as mentioned by Technical Director Katharina Kiel. Despite missing out on this year's finalists VfL Wolfsburg, they are looking forward to their home game against defending champions FC Barcelona on November 22, hoping to attract a larger crowd and build on their historic achievement of qualifying for the Champions League group stage for the first time as Eintracht Frankfurt.
