Eintracht have to face Bayern conqueror 1. FC Saarbrücken

Eintracht have to face Bayern conqueror 1. FC Saarbrücken

Eintracht Frankfurt will face Bayern defeats and third-division side 1. FC Saarbrücken in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup. Saarbrücken knocked FC Bayern out of the competition as well as second-division side Karlsruher SC in the first round," commented Eintracht coach Dino Toppmöller on the draw. "That alone shows the potential of our next DFB Cup opponents." The match in Saarland will be played on either December 5 or 6.

"Frankfurt have a great team. But you can see what's possible in the cup," said Saarbrücken's sporting director Jürgen Luginger in the ZDF broadcast about last year's DFB Cup finalists. Saarbrücken had won 2:1 against the German champions from Munich on Wednesday.

Eintracht Frankfurt will square off against 1. FC Saarbrücken, who eliminated Bayern from the DFB Cup, in the round of 16. The third-division team's impressive run includes a victory over the German champions in the previous round.
