At Liberec, Czech Republic, a lightning strike injured 18 people, nine of whom were kids. Post-incident, a health facility representative said the hurt folks were located on the ground, among them being children and teenagers ranging from two to sixteen years old. Fortunately, all patients escaped burns, and no one underwent surgery, making their situations stable.

Emergency helpers breathed life into five casualties. The afflicted individuals were transferred to nearby healthcare centers. A copter ferried a kid to Prague's Motol University Hospital. Liberec is app. 25 km southeast of Zittau's Saxon border town.

"A thunderbolt slammed into a tree in a downpour," noted a police rep, as reported via the CTK agency. Many individuals huddled under this tree, seeking cover from the deluge. In June early on, Czech Republic commemorates International Children's Day.

Flooding was also reported on various rivers in the west of the Czech Republic. Pilsen's city administration reminded folks to abstain from visiting riverbanks. "The water possesses immense power," stated Mayor Roman Zarzycky on social media. Between Pilsen (Plzen) and Strakonice, a railway had to shut down due to mudslides. CHMU, the liaison for the national weather forecast, foretold more downpours in the afternoon.
