It's almost time to plan those weekend getaways, but not before treating the dads in your life for Father's Day on June 16th. There's still enough time to order and wrap gifts in time. Here are some ideas for dads who love useful kitchen tools or enjoy delicious snacks.

A functional apron

Before attending culinary school or working professionally, I bought a beautiful apron. It was from Anthropologie and had a floral design, but it was more visually pleasing than practical for cooking. For fathers who spend a lot of time in the kitchen, give them a high-quality, functional apron. There are different styles available, so it's important to consider their cooking preferences and body type. I prefer the bib-style apron. Choose one made of sturdy canvas with easy-to-reach pockets.

Coffee pour-over kit

I'm not sure if coffee is a food group yet, but I'll treat it like one until the decision is made. If your dad has recently left his Coffeemate lifestyle and discovered the coffee world, it's a great time to gift him a pour-over coffee kit. This would be a fantastic gift if your dad is also a bit of a scientist, since pour-over is a precise process involving time and temperature.

Scientific pops need a kitchen scale to measure water and coffee grounds, but it's something every cook should have. This is a perfect gift to buy someone who will use it often but might not get around to buying it themselves. Look for a scale with a large weighing platform and a large (or illuminated) display.

Some dads already have all the gadgets and appliances they need, so I suggest edible gifts. If your dad enjoys cooking and eating, packable meat jerky sticks are a fantastic choice. They're tasty, long-lasting, high in protein, and perfect for satisfying hunger. I like Chomps sticks because they offer various meat options like beef, turkey, and venison, as well as flavors like jalapeno or taco seasoned.

Barbecue sauce

Father's Day often brings thoughts of grilling, barbecue, and our cravings for burgers and grilled chicken thighs. Although barbecue sauce might seem common, it's a sure-fire hit, and Dad will appreciate the thoughtfulness of this gift. These barbecue sauces work equally well on pizza (grilled pizza counts), and you can use the comparison points to find the perfect sauce for your dad's favorite grilling items. For a sweet, garlicky sauce with lots of umami, I recommend Bachan's. The consistency may be slightly thinner than standard barbecue sauce, so be open to using more than one bottle.

Fun for beginners or experienced cooks, one-time cooking classes are an excellent way to spend some time together and learn new skills. It's a chance for some socializing and you get to enjoy a delicious meal afterward. Plus, most adult cooking classes include wine at the end. I recommend checking out culinary schools, such as my former institution ICE, for their additional courses. They typically have expert instructors and top-notch ingredients.

A Juicer

While a juicer may seem like a pricier purchase, it can save money in the long run if your dad visits the local juicery every day. There are different kinds to choose from, like centrifugal juicers that range from about $40 to $70, or masticating juicers (also known as cold-press juicers) for around $100 and up, which may provide a more nutrient-filled juice.

Upgraded Air Fryer

Air fryers have been popular gifts for some time now, and each year they become more advanced. If your father has an older model, it's time for an upgrade. Consider one with dual cooking zones or an oven-style air fryer. No matter your choice, your dad will be excited to use this gift year-round.
