Middle East - Education ministers travel to Israel
Federal Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger (FDP) and the President of the Conference of Education Ministers, Berlin's Senator for Education Katharina Günther-Wünsch (CDU), will be traveling to Israel in the coming days. More than two months after the terrorist attack by Islamist Hamas on Israel, the politicians want to find out about the consequences and the current situation on site.
As the Berlin education administration announced on Friday, the German delegation also includes several other education ministers from the federal states. Meetings are planned with representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Education, as well as with pupils and cooperation partners. On her return, Günther-Wünsch plans to present the results of the trip at a press conference in Berlin next Wednesday.
According to experts, anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel have increased in Germany following the terrorist attack. There have also been incidents at schools.
