The sporting success with six titles in three years has lifted SC Magdeburg to a higher level financially. "We have managed to keep our squad together," Managing Director Marc-Henrik Schmedt told the Volksstimme newspaper. The handball Bundesliga club has "accumulated economic substance" as a result. According to a media report not commented on by Schmedt, SC Magdeburg's budget is said to be between eight and ten million euros.
Success at the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia on Sunday earned the club around 370,000 euros, while the Champions League triumph in June brought in as much as one million euros. Since 2021, SCM has also won the European League, the German championship and the Club World Cup twice. "Of course, we will go there next year with the aim of being the first team to win four in a row," said the manager.
