E-cigarette mistaken for a firearm: Police operation

A 19-year-old mistook an e-cigarette for a firearm, leading to a police operation in the Allgäu region. The young man called the police because he thought he had been threatened with a firearm in the dark in Oberstdorf (Oberallgäu district), investigators said on Wednesday. One of the alerted patrols then checked two people on Tuesday evening and discovered an e-cigarette on one of them. A confrontation revealed that the 19-year-old was mistaken. The police did not have to take any further action.

In Swabia's traditionally quiet Allgäu region, an unexpected emergency arose when a curious misinterpretation led to a police operation. Despite the region being known for its quaint curiosities, an e-cigarette was mistaken for a firearm in Oberstdorf.
