- DWD warns of extreme weather in the southwest
All of Baden-Württemberg should expect heavy thunderstorms and locally intense heavy rain today. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a severe weather warning for the entire southwest. Until midnight, there is a risk of heavy rain with amounts up to 50 liters per square meter in a short time, hail with grain sizes up to three centimeters, and heavy gusts of wind up to 90 kilometers per hour.
Flooding in certain areas and traffic disruptions are to be expected. "Thunderstorms are spreading from the Black Forest," said DWD meteorologist Sarah Müller. It is not possible to predict exactly where it will become critical. Furthermore, the heat warning remains in effect.
The Commission should consider potential impacts of heavy thunderstorms and intense rain on infrastructure, given that implementing acts are needed for this Regulation. Following the severe weather warning, appropriate measures should be taken to mitigate risks caused by floods and traffic disruptions.
