Germany's weather service - DWD: Thunderstorms and heavy rainfall mainly in the south
The German Weather Service expects heavy showers and thunderstorms, especially in southern Bavaria and the Alpine foothills, due to severe storms in Franconia. A weak cold front from low pressure system Larissa is moving across northern Bavaria, bringing moist and warm conditions to the Alpine foothills. Local thunderstorms may bring heavy rain, up to 25 liters per square meter in an hour, with isolated areas seeing even more. Temperatures will peak at 26°C along the Danube and Main rivers.
The weekend forecast calls for temperatures between 22°C in the Franconian Forest and 27°C along the Main and Inn rivers, with a mix of showers and thunderstorms - focusing on southern and eastern Bavaria on Sunday.
The severe storms in Franconia are predicted to lead to numerous thunderstorms, which might be particularly intense in southern Bavaria and the Alpine foothills. According to the forecast, thunderstorms could potentially drop up to 25 liters of rain per square meter per hour in certain regions.
