Play football. - Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt anticipates playing frequently for the Netherlands throughout the European Championships.

Dutch footballer Matthijs de Ligt, who plays as a defender for Bayern Munich, believes his chances of starting for the Netherlands in the upcoming European Championship in Germany are high. "I reckon it's likely if you've been playing a lot at Bayern," the 24-year-old told Dutch online publication nu.nl. "I've demonstrated my abilities and what I can contribute to a team in the Champions League."

De Ligt made 22 appearances in the Bundesliga and six in the Champions League for Bayern this campaign. However, he faced several injury setbacks. Currently, he's gearing up with the Netherlands in Zeist for the European Championship and feels healthy.

De Ligt trusts his squad to give a good account. "I think we're not doomed against anyone, but we can also lose to anyone. We need to ensure other nations think: We don't want to face this Holland," said de Ligt, participating in his third major tournament after the 2021 European Championship and the 2022 World Cup. "We have a bunch of young players who compete in top leagues."

The Netherlands will go up against Poland, France, and Austria in the group stage.
