European Football Tournament - During the German European Championship, "Major Tom" makes an appearance in streetcars.

The popular 80s song "Major Tom" by Peter Schilling is blasting through the speakers of trams, buses, and bus stops in Stuttgart after every German goal during the European Football Championship. Stuttgart's mayor, Frank Nopper (CDU) made this announcement earlier this week.

The German Football Association (DFB) has chosen "Major Tom" as the official goal song. But in the stadiums, a different anthem is played after goals by the German national team. The goal music should be the same for all goals, hence parts of the official UEFA song "Fire" are played throughout the stadium. This song was released a month ago and features collaborations with the Italian dance trio Meduza, the US band OneRepublic, and the German singer Leony.
