Drunken cyclist seriously injured and rescued from river
A drunk 45-year-old e-bike rider fell in Lower Franconia, refused treatment from the emergency services and then fell into a river. Emergency services rescued the seriously injured man from the water, as the police announced on Sunday.
The police received a report of a cyclist who had fallen in Mömlingen (Miltenberg district) on Saturday evening. Before the emergency services arrived, the 45-year-old had already continued his journey. A short time later, Hessian paramedics reported that a cyclist had fallen in front of the ambulance, but had refused treatment despite injuries to his face. The man fled on foot.
Officers eventually found the man lying underneath a bridge in a river. Rescue services and police pulled the 45-year-old out of the water. He was seriously injured and taken to a clinic.
The incident involving the drunken cyclist led to traffic disruptions in the area as emergency services diverted traffic tomanaged lanes. Despite the accidents occurring frequently due to drunken driving and reckless bike usage in traffic, stricter measures to ensure road safety, including education and enforcement, are yet to be implemented underfront.
