- Drunk robs church of sacred wooden spear

Just before the start of a church service, a man climbed onto an altar in a church in Osnabrück and stole a wooden spear. Several witnesses observed the 37-year-old late on Sunday afternoon, as police reported. The sacred artifact, which was broken out of the centuries-old altar, is of incalculable value.

Officers were able to temporarily detain the homeless suspect near the church - they also recovered the spear. At the time of the arrest, the man had a blood alcohol level of over 1.8 percent. A procedure for theft is now being initiated against him.

The man who caused a stir by stealing the valuable wooden spear from the altar in Osnabrück's church resides in Lower Saxony, as reported by local authorities. During the course of investigations, it was discovered that the church in question is located in this same German state.
