- Drunk man hits his partner in the pool
A drunken man is suspected of assaulting his partner and several other people at a swimming pool in Middle Franconia. According to a police spokesperson, multiple calls were received from a swimming pool in Stein in the district of Fürth on Monday.
Witnesses claim that the 24-year-old man punched his 30-year-old partner several times in the face, causing her to collapse unconscious. He then allegedly attacked three lifeguards and a swimmer who came to her aid with punches.
When the police arrived, several people were holding the man down, who was reportedly highly aggressive. It took several officers to put handcuffs on him. After the woman regained consciousness, she also attacked those present and was subsequently restrained. Meanwhile, other swimmers looked after the couple's five-year-old daughter.
A 26-year-old lifeguard was injured and taken to hospital, while the other two lifeguards and a 27-year-old swimmer were unharmed.
The couple was taken into custody, and the child was taken by the police to a friend of the woman's. A breathalyzer test showed that both were heavily intoxicated, with the woman's blood alcohol level at around 2.5 per mille. She was then taken to hospital for checks on any injuries.
Investigations are ongoing against the 24-year-old man for assault, insult and assault on law enforcement officers. A judge was also due to decide on remand in his case.
The woman was identified as one of the victims who was assaulted at the swimming pool. Several other women at the pool came to her aid when she was attacked.
