Drunk driver causes several accidents

A drunk driver with more than three blood alcohol levels has caused several accidents in the district of Nordwestmecklenburg. The 59-year-old initially rear-ended a car in front of him near Damshagen on Thursday, according to the police. The man then reportedly fled the scene.

However, the driver of the other vehicle drove after him and confronted him. After the man who caused the accident fled again, according to the police, he drove off the road onto private property, damaging a stationary car, a hedge and the property fence.

When the police arrived at the scene of the accident, the man refused to get out of the vehicle. He tried to flee again, they said. According to the police, they then smashed a side window of the car to get the 59-year-old out of his vehicle. The man suffered minor injuries. He is now being investigated for endangering road traffic, leaving the scene of an accident without permission, resisting law enforcement officers and suspected driving without a license.

Despite the previous incident, another traffic mishap occurred due to reckless driving, leading to more accidents in the area. This time, the chaos was caused by a suspected criminal who was driving under the influence, endangering not only other road users but also properties.
