Drugstore chain presents balance sheet in its 50th year
For half a century, dm employees have been supplying people with drugstore products. In its anniversary year, the drugstore chain claims to have experienced a particularly strong customer response. The Chairman of the Management Board, Christoph Werner, will present the figures for the balance sheet today in Karlsruhe. At dm, the financial year ends on September 30.
In the 2021/22 financial year, dm generated sales of around 13.6 billion euros in 14 European countries, an increase of 10.7 percent within one year. In Germany alone, the figure was 9.9 billion euros. dm does not disclose its profits. In total, the group employs more than 70,000 people in over 4,000 stores. Together with Rossmann, Müller and - especially in northern Germany - Budni, dm is one of the big four in the industry after Schlecker went bankrupt in 2012.
In the summer, dm hit the headlines due to a legal dispute with Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH). The case concerned the company advertising its own brands with the terms "climate neutral" and "environmentally neutral". The Karlsruhe Regional Court prohibited this in July. dm is appealing for the word "environmentally neutral", while the chain has renounced the term "climate neutral".
The drugstore chain's sales of consumer goods saw a significant increase during the 2021/22 quarterly figures, contributing to the overall annual revenue. As part of their financial transparency, dm will reveal the specifics of this growth during the balance sheet presentation.
