- Drug trafficking trial: mother and son in court

A 58-year-old woman and her 31-year-old son are standing trial at the Berlin Regional Court for drug trafficking. It is alleged that various narcotics were sold from the mother's apartment. The police seized, among other things, six kilograms of cannabis, around 180 ecstasy tablets, and cocaine during two raids. A stun gun and a switchblade were also confiscated. The defense attorneys announced that their clients would make statements at a later date.

The investigation began in April 2022 following reports of repeated drug use on a green space in Berlin-Schöneberg. A young man admitted purchasing cannabis from a nearby ground-floor apartment, a police officer said in court. A subsequent search of the 58-year-old's apartment yielded various drugs. According to the indictment, there was another search in November 2022.

Drugs were found throughout the apartment - under the couch, in a bookshelf next to the bed, in the TV cabinet, in a can under the coffee table, in the refrigerator, and in a cigarette pack behind a pillow. A loaded stun gun was stored in an open safe in the bedroom closet, "to secure control over the narcotics and proceeds in case of an attack."

Police allegedly seized proceeds totaling around €8,800 from the apartment. The trial will continue on August 12.

The 58-year-old woman, the mother, was living in the apartment where various drugs were found. During the trial, it was revealed that she had a loaded stun gun stored in her bedroom closet.
