Crime - Drug shipment via darknet stopped - arrest warrants executed
Customs officers, with the support of the police in Düsseldorf, have stopped a drug shipment that for years had been sending Amphetamines, Ecstasy, and other stimulants over the so-called Darknet. Two men in their late twenties, aged 25 and 32, had arrest warrants issued against them, according to the responsible Customs Office in Frankfurt.
In a Düsseldorf apartment, a drug lab was discovered. The officers found precursor chemicals for drugs, approximately 15 kilograms of synthetic stimulants, 19,000 euros in cash and electronic evidence, as well as packaging materials and utensils for the shipping of drug packages, a spokesperson said.
Detection at Frankfurt Airport
Customs officers at Frankfurt Airport discovered the illegal shipping operation in 2022. The drug packages had been regularly seized since then. Over 330 drug shipments had been seized since summer 2022 - including 30 kilograms of Amphetamines, over 21,000 Ecstasy tablets, and 1,800 LSD trips.
Simultaneously, the investigators had been researching the senders in the Darknet, the spokesperson added. On a Wednesday, the investigators finally succeeded in their efforts. Four search warrants were executed in Duisburg and Düsseldorf, according to the statement. The investigations were continuing to identify any potential further suspects.
The men, both residents of Düsseldorf, were originally from Hesse. The arrest warrants for their arrest were issued by the court in North Rhine-Westphalia. Their involvement in the drug operation was first suspected at Frankfurt Airport, where numerous drug shipments were regularly intercepted. The police in Frankfurt were instrumental in the investigations. The seized shipments contained significant quantities of Amphetamines, Ecstasy, and other stimulants. Consequently, the operation was dismantled, leading to the discovery of a drug lab in a Düsseldorf apartment.
