Drug lab with amphetamine worth millions discovered
Investigators in the Neuwied area have unearthed a drug laboratory with chemical drugs worth several million euros. The police and public prosecutor's office in Koblenz announced on Tuesday that amphetamine had been produced in the highly professionally equipped laboratory in a warehouse.
The laboratory had already been discovered on October 12. The police found a large quantity of amphetamine base in it, which was suitable for the production of around 500 kilograms of amphetamine in paste form. This is believed to be worth several million euros on the street. According to the information provided, it was probably one of the largest drug laboratories ever found in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Three men, who are said to have both produced and trafficked drugs, were remanded in custody as a result of the search. One of the men is also being investigated for armed drug trafficking, as knives were found ready to hand during the search of his home. The investigation is ongoing.
The discovery of the drug laboratory marked a significant crackdown on illegal drug production in the Neuwied area. The amphetamine produced in this crime-related operation would have generated substantial profits, contributing to the broader issue of drug-related crime.
