Drug-filled rental cars result in jail time for those involved in Düsseldorf.

On Monday, a court handed down a verdict involving the trafficking of drugs and money laundering. This decision is not legally binding yet. The indictment claims that the total revenue from the trade was approximately two and a half million euros.

The alleged offenders are said to have permitted vehicles with sophisticated concealment spaces to be registered under a company and then issued rental agreements to the drivers. They were allegedly cognizant that drugs were being transported using these cars.

Via the rental agreements, the rental vehicles were meant to appear less shady in the event of checks. The indictment details a metal container installed beneath the driver's seat as a secret storage area and a metal plate under the passenger seat that could be opened with magnetic keys.

The indictment highlights two separate trips in 2019 by someone else under prosecution, from the Netherlands to Germany. On these trips, it is alleged that various kilograms of hashish, cocaine, and ecstasy were transported in the hidden compartments. The suspects were also accused of receiving money from the drug transactions.
