Police - Drug driving has consequences for two men
In Burgenlandkreis, a police officer stopped a driver who had taken drugs - but the check also had consequences for the owner of the vehicle. During the early morning control in Osterfeld, a 20-year-old driver tested positive for drugs. A blood draw followed at the hospital, as a police spokeswoman in Halle announced.
The officers continued their investigation and discovered that an open arrest warrant existed for the vehicle owner. The 21-year-old could not pay a several-digit sum, which would have spared him from detention. Therefore, he was taken to a juvenile detention center.
The incident in Osterfeld, Burgenlandkreis, led to drug-related charges not just for the driver, but also for the vehicle's owner. Despite the driver, a 20-year-old, testing positive for drugs during traffic control, it was the owner's past actions that landed him in trouble. The police discovered an outstanding warrant for the owner, a 21-year-old, associated with the vehicle. Due to his inability to pay a substantial fee, he was arrested and transferred to a juvenile detention center in Saxony-Anhalt, potentially influencing his future in the face of drug-drive crime. This incident underscores the ripple effect that crime can have in a small community, affecting not only individuals but also their associates.
