Crime - Drug deal with several kilos of marijuana: man in custody
Two men have been arrested in Upper Franconia during a drug deal. One of them was subsequently remanded in custody. In addition, cocaine and several kilograms of marijuana were seized, as the police and the public prosecutor's office announced on Monday.
Officers from the criminal investigation department convicted the men, aged 35 and 44, in the district of Lichtenfels on Wednesday after extensive investigations. The market value of the drugs is reportedly in the high five-figure range.
The 35-year-old was brought before an investigating judge on Thursday, who issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of illegal trafficking in narcotics in not small quantities. The 44-year-old, however, was released.

The drug business in Upper Franconia continues to attract the attention of law enforcement, as another major drug deal involving marijuana and cocaine has been disrupted by the police and the public prosecutor's office. The 35-year-old accused in this case now faces charges of illegal trafficking in narcotics in large quantities and is currently in remand in custody.
The arrest warrant and subsequent investigation highlight the seriousness of drug-related criminality in the region and demonstrate the commitment of Bavarian authorities, including the Lichtenfels police, to combating such activities. It's crucial to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of the community by taking a firm stance against drug dealers and their illegal activities.
Additionally, the high market value of the seized drugs underlines the significant financial gains that can be reaped from participating in the drug business, further emphasizing the importance of strong enforcement efforts to deter potential offenders. The public is encouraged to remain informed and cooperate with local law enforcement in the ongoing fight against drug-related crimes.
Once again, the drug deal in Upper Franconia serves as a stark reminder that issues of criminality and drug abuse are not confined to specific areas or demographics, and require a comprehensive, coordinated approach from multiple sectors to address effectively.
