Accident - Driver trapped between truck and house wall

A truck driver got trapped between a heating oil tanker truck and a house wall in Ilbesheim (Südliche Weinstraße district). The 36-year-old man was seriously, but not life-threateningly injured, according to the police.

The man had reportedly stopped the truck for a heating oil delivery and got out before the tanker truck rolled off and collided with an addition to the building. The man was trapped during the collision. The addition to the building collapsed.

The cause of the accident was initially unclear. The truck will now also be checked for a possible technical defect. The police estimate the damage to be around 150,000 Euro.

The incident occurred in the Südliche Weinstraße district, which is part of Rhineland-Palatinate's famous wine route. Due to the accident, traffic in the area was significantly affected. In the past year, there have been several accidents on the Rhineland-Palatinate's wine routes, leading to calls for improved safety measures. The police are urging drivers to drive with caution to prevent further accidents.
