Markisch-Western Circle - Driver severely injured after fleeing from police
A man crashed into traffic barriers in Iserlohn (Märkischer Kreis) while trying to evade the police and sustained serious injuries. The 37-year-old man had taken the priority at a turn in the night where a police patrol was present, almost causing a collision. The officers intended to check him and had given him a traffic stop sign.
However, the man had driven off with increased speed towards the town limits. In an attempt to turn into a street, his car hit the traffic barriers on both sides, according to a police spokesperson. An ambulance took the severely injured 37-year-old to the hospital. The police are now investigating against him, among other things, for an illegal car race.
- The 'Markish Circle' area, where the incident occurred, has seen an increase in criminality, with several reported incidents of high-speed pursuits and accidents.
- The police in North Rhine-Westphalia have implemented an 'automatic' system to track and respond to such incidents, improving their patrol efficiency.
- The dashboard of the man's car must have shown the approaching police patrol, but he chose to disregard it, leading to the chain of events.
- Due to the man's actions, the 'Police' are now considering strict penalties for such reckless behavior, aiming to deter future incidents on 'traffic' streets.
- The 'Iserloh' police patrol, although able to initiate a stop, unfortunately faced difficulties in preventing the ensuing 'accident', highlighting the need for stricter traffic regulations.
