On the A5 near Reiskirchen, a car driver collided with a truck and suffered severe injuries. According to the Hesse State Police, the 41-year-old from Bad Salzungen was traveling from Frankfurt towards Kassel on Thursday evening when he, for unknown reasons, crashed into the rear of the truck's trailer.

The car was redirected into the median barrier due to the impact. The car driver was trapped in their vehicle and had to be extricated with severe, life-threatening injuries before being taken to a hospital. The 54-year-old truck driver remained unharmed.

The highway was closed in the northbound direction for approximately three and a half hours. The estimated damage is around 40,000 euros. A specialist has been commissioned to investigate the accident. Any witnesses to the traffic accident are asked to contact the Hesse State Police Highway Patrol in Butzbach.

Following the accident, authorities emphasized the importance of maintaining focus while driving, particularly in conditions related to ['Transport and telecommunications'], such as using mobile devices or navigational systems. Despite the ongoing investigation, authorities encourage all drivers to prioritize safety and avoid distractions while on the road.
