Driver dies after rear-end collision on A3
A 64-year-old man has died from his injuries after a rear-end collision at the end of a traffic jam on the Autobahn 3 in the Upper Palatinate. This was announced by the Parsberg police on Sunday. His 62-year-old female passenger is still in intensive care, but her condition is stable.
According to the police, a 20-year-old van driver hit the 64-year-old's stationary vehicle without braking on Friday afternoon. The car was then pushed onto another car in front of it, which in turn hit an unloaded car transporter. The 20-year-old van driver is still being treated for his serious injuries.
The accident happened in the construction site area of the Krondorf Bridge, between the Neumarkt-Ost and Velburg junctions, in the direction of Passau.
Due to the accident, traffic in the OBERPFALZ region around the Krondorf Bridge on the A3 was heavily affected over the weekend. Additional traffic accidents were reported in the area, causing further delays for motorists.
