Parliament - Dreyer: Raab has drawn the right conclusions
According to Rhineland-Palatinate Minister President Malu Dreyer (both SPD), State Secretary Heike Raab, who came under heavy criticism, has drawn the right conclusions. Following her critical letter to SWR, she publicly acknowledged her mistakes and resigned from her position on the broadcaster's committees, Dreyer said on Wednesday at a special session of the state parliament in Mainz.
As Minister President, she also regretted that the exchange of letters could be perceived as undue influence, Dreyer continued. "I say very clearly: at no time would I tolerate pressure being exerted on the media by the State Chancellery." Dreyer accused the opposition of painting a completely false picture in the debate. This was motivated by party politics. "They want to damage the SPD," said Dreyer. In reality, however, this was damaging public broadcasting.
