Dressel: Compromise "not really satisfactory"
Hamburg's Senator for Finance Andreas Dressel (SPD) has assessed the resolutions of the federal and state governments on the financing of refugee admission as a "not really satisfactory result". Social, interior and finance authorities are still busy calculating the exact financial effects, Dressel said on Tuesday. However, his forecast based on an initial assessment by his authority is that "the overall relief effects will be in the high double-digit range, but certainly not in the three-digit range", said the finance senator. "But we have to see what our total cost burden is," he added. "And if we say that we're scraping the billion mark", then the relief effect is "still manageable, to put it mildly".
The discussion on financing refugee admission in the Senate has left Hamburg's Finance Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD) feeling that the outcome is not fully satisfactory for the federal states. Regardless, the Federal Government's decisions will likely have significant consequences for the finances of federal states, with estimates suggesting relief effects in the high double-digit range.
