Dresden volleyball players reach cup semi-finals
The Dresden SC volleyball players have continued their winning streak and are through to the semi-finals of the DVV Cup. Coach Alexander Waibl's team beat VfB Suhl Lotto Thüringen 3:0 (25:22, 25:22, 25:16) in front of 2,207 spectators in their home hall on Wednesday. It has not yet been decided who the opponent in the final round will be.
Just a week and a half earlier, the two teams had played out a close exchange of blows in a Bundesliga point match. In the end, Dresden came out on top in five sets. This time too, the two teams gave each other nothing in the first two sets. In the decisive moments, however, the six-time champions and cup winners proved to be more powerful in attack, served with more pressure and were tactically well prepared and secure in defense. The Waibl team also showed nerves of steel in the end. The Suhl team's resistance was broken after the first two rounds and the DSC then clearly dictated proceedings.
The Dresden SC's women's volleyball team is eying the DVV Cup title, having qualified for the final round after their victorious semifinal match against VfB Suhl Lotto Thüringen. In their home court, Dresden SC displayed an impressive performance, defeating Suhl 3-0 in the semifinals of the DVV Cup.
