Volleyball Bundesliga - Dresden volleyball players fight for twelfth victory
Dresden SC 's volleyball players fulfilled their compulsory task on the eighth Bundesliga matchday and won 3:1 (22:25, 25:19, 25:22, 25:15) against the still winless Ladies in Black Aachen. The team of Head Coach Alexander Waibl thus celebrated its twelfth win in a row in all competitions. The second leg in the round of 16 of the CEV Cup is already scheduled for Tuesday in Schwerin.
Dresden struggled to find their rhythm in front of 2833 spectators at the start. After the tough CEV Cup match against Schwerin on Wednesday, Waibl's players looked a little tired physically and mentally and made too many easy mistakes.
The DSC women improved in the second half, served with more pressure, stabilized their reception and defense and were now also more efficient in attack. Two series of serves by Grace Frohling and Sarah Straube gave them a decisive lead. The home side also led by five points in the third period, but Aachen fought its way back. However, the DSC team kept its nerve in crunch time and dominated proceedings in the fourth period with its powerful play, also acting more consistently at a higher level than its opponents in reception and defense. The victory was wrapped up after 97 minutes.
