DVV - Dresden volleyball players eliminated from the cup semi-finals

The Dresden SC volleyball team's dream of winning their seventh cup in the club's history has come to an end. Coach Alexander Waibl's team lost 1:3 (15:25, 25:23, 26:28, 13:25) to German champions Allianz MTV Stuttgart in the semi-finals on Thursday and were therefore eliminated. The club had previously reached the final of the DVV Cup nine times.

In front of 2,223 spectators in their home arena, Dresden initially failed to get into the game at all, while the tactically well-prepared visitors came out firing and scored almost at will. However, the DSC women fought their way into the game better in the second half. They stabilized and the substitution of Larissa Winter for Sarah Straube brought fresh impetus. The spectators witnessed an open exchange of blows with the better end for Dresden.

Both teams gave each other nothing in the third period either. Neither team was able to pull away decisively. After the DSC failed to capitalize on two set points, the champions took the set 2:1. Waibl's charges were now no longer able to counter the play and attacking power of Stuttgart's exceptional Krystal Rivers.
