- Dresden Cross Choir 2025 with first performance of Requiem

The Dresden Kreuzchor will premiere Sven Helbig's "Requiem A" on February 9, 2025, with the Saxon State Orchestra. Soloist René Pape, a native of Dresden and former Kreuzianer, will perform. The piece is described as a "powerful memorial to reconciliation," honoring all victims of armed conflicts and marking the beginning of concerts commemorating the destruction of the city 80 years ago at the end of World War II.

According to Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann, Bach's Johannespassion will also be performed during the 2024/2025 season, under the theme "In Transition," for the first time in twelve years. The choir will bridge the gap between tradition and renewal, serving as one of the city's most important musical representatives and an excellent training institution for young musicians, said Culture Mayor Annekatrin Klepsch (Left Party).

Tours and performances outside the Kreuzkirche

Tours are planned in Germany, Denmark, France, and Switzerland. The choir will also perform with the Dresden Philharmonic in the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie and the Munich Isarphilharmonie, featuring Mozart's Requiem and works by Arvo Pärt, who will celebrate his 90th birthday in 2025.

In the Kreuzchor vesper services, works by former cantors such as Rudolf Mauersberger and Gottfried August Homilius will be performed. The choir will also sing in the Dresden Heath, at the city festival in the main station's dome hall, at the football stadium during Advent, and in front of students - including a performance of a "Christmas Oratorio for Children" with the Dresden Philharmonic.

The Dresden Kreuzchor's tours will take them to various countries, including Germany, ensuring their musical presence beyond their homeland. During their visit to Munich, they will perform alongside the Munich Isarphilharmonie, paying tribute to Arvo Pärt, a renowned composer celebrating his 90th birthday in 2025.
