Statistics - Dresden and Leipzig gain significant jobs
The number of people in employment in Saxony varied from region to region last year. While the cities of Leipzig and Dresden saw significant growth, four districts suffered job losses: Bautzen, Vogtland, Central Saxony and Erzgebirge. There were also clear differences between the individual groups of people in employment, as reported by the State Statistical Office on Monday. While the number of self-employed and assisting family members fell in all districts (- 1.4 percent), there was an increase in the number of marginally employed and short-term employees across Saxony (+ 1.7 percent).
The total number of people in employment rose in 2022 and has approached pre-coronavirus pandemic levels. Last year, according to the statisticians, there was an increase of 0.8% to 2.0717 million. There are signs of a further increase this year. In the 3rd quarter, there were already 2.0842 million people in employment.
