"Dreamed of": Schöppner's starting eleven debut for Heidenheim

Match-winner Jan Schöppner was beaming after 1. FC Heidenheim's derby win. "This is what you dream of," said the 24-year-old, who celebrated his starting debut in the Bundesliga in the Ostalb club's 2-0 (0-0) win over VfB Stuttgart on Sunday. Schöppner had given Heidenheim the lead with a header in the 70th minute, with goalscorer Tim Kleindienst then scoring the final goal in stoppage time.

"Compliments to my team-mates," said midfielder Schöppner about Jan-Niklas Beste, who had taken several dangerous corners and free-kicks and thus also prepared the 1:0. "Incredibly good standards", said Schöppner.

Heidenheim, who had previously suffered four defeats in a row in competitive matches, are 13th in the table with ten points. "It's decent," said Schöppner, but also added with a view to the four-point lead over 16th place in the relegation places: "It's all very tight down there and I think it will stay that way until the end." Next Saturday, the promoted team will visit record champions FC Bayern Munich.

Jan-Niklas Beste's accurate corner kicks and free-kicks significantly contributed to 1. FC Heidenheim's winning strategy against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, setting up Jan Schöppner's crucial header for the first goal. With this performance, Schöppner's impact on the Bundesliga stage as a member of 1. FC Heidenheim continued to grow, showing his potential to make an impact in future clashes, such as against FC Bayern Munich in their upcoming match.
