Bundesliga 2 - "Dream less, work more": Kiel still on the upswing
Holstein Kiel are now in a promotion place in the 2nd Bundesliga, but coach Marcel Rapp does not want to overestimate that. "Dreaming alone won't get us anywhere," he said after the 3:2 (2:0) win against SV Wehen Wiesbaden on Saturday.
"Our focus is always from game to game, that sounds stupid, but I think that's what sets us apart," the coach added. According to the coach, Holstein fans can "always dream". The games, however, should "dream less, work more".
The work is currently paying off. Holstein have continued their winning streak in the 2nd Bundesliga with this success and have reached one of the two direct promotion places.
Kiel's success pushed their northern rivals Hamburger SV into third place. With 29 points, the club is now the first runner-up to leaders FC St. Pauli (31), who are two points adrift. The two Hamburg clubs had drawn 2-2 in the city derby the day before.
"We more than deserved to win the game," said coach Rapp on the convincing performance against Wiesbaden. Steven Skrzybski (19th minute) with a penalty, Fiete Arp (37th) with his third goal of the season and Finn Porath (59th) scored for the Förde-Club. Wehen then made the game exciting once again with a double strike from Ivan Prtajin (81st/90+3).
