Dresden: Destruction and Rebirth - Dr. Platzbecker assumes the role of Medical Director at the University Hospital.
The Supervisory Board of University Hospital Dresden (UKD) has selected Uwe Platzbecker as their new Medical Director. This announcement was made by the Saxon Ministry of Science on a Wednesday. Platzbecker, who is a Dresden native and studied medicine there, will be taking over the position from Michael Albrecht who has been leading the clinic for 23 years. Albrecht is set to be replaced in 2025. Platzbecker has previously worked at UKD and is currently a professor of hematology at the University Hospital in Leipzig as well as the clinic director. Science Minister Sebastian Gemkow (CDU) praised Platzbecker, calling him an exceptional researcher and doctor.
