Double murder in Albstadt: Life imprisonment legally binding

The sentence of life imprisonment for a double murder in Albstadt against a 53-year-old man is final. According to the Hechingen district court on Friday, no appeals were lodged. In October, the jury court chamber of the district court sentenced the 53-year-old to life imprisonment for two counts of murder and one count of hostage-taking and established the particular gravity of his guilt. The order for preventive detention was reserved.

In December 2022, the 53-year-old Italian had ambushed his 20-year-old niece in her apartment, tied her up and threatened her with a gun, as the court went on to explain. He repeatedly asked her for allegedly stolen money, as he assumed that she had stolen from him. The defendant was not satisfied with her answers, but was so disappointed by her supposed behavior that he strangled her with a cable tie as he had planned.

According to the court, he dismembered her body into several pieces and buried it in his garden. A few days later, he shot a 23-year-old friend of his niece in the street in Albstadt, whom he suspected of being an accomplice in the alleged thefts. After shooting him several times, he put a ten-euro bill in the dead man's mouth before turning himself in to the police. The court judged both killings to be dastardly and considered the killing of the niece's boyfriend to be motivated by base motives, as the accused committed vigilante justice out of pure vindictiveness.

The finality of the life imprisonment sentence for the double murder case in Albstadt means that no further appeals can be made in the processes related to this crime. This judgment, handed down by the Hechingen district court, is a culmination of the extensive court procedures that ensued after the devastating incident.
